The national anthem was originally written on 11 December 1911 and titled "Jana Gana Mana".
It was adopted as the national anthem of India after its independence in 1947. The Delegation has provided a recording of "Jana Gana Mana" as the country's national anthem for the first time at the General Assembly of the United Nations held in New York in 1947.
"Jana Gana Mana" got the position and respect of the national anthem of India in the Indian Constitution on 24 January 1950.
