Good [morning/afternoon/evening]! All present here
Today I am very excited to talk about a festival which is celebrated throughout India with happiness and love. The festival I am talking about is Raksha Bandhan. It is something more than just a day on the calendar. It's a day of special bond between brothers and sisters.
Let's talk about who celebrates Raksha Bandhan, why and when it is celebrated, how it is celebrated and furthermore we will talk about its importance.
Raksha Bandhan is mainly a hindu festival that is celebrated throughout India on a large scale. Many schools, colleges and offices have holidays on this day, or they open 2 to 3 hours late in contrast to their regular opening time.
It is a festival that is celebrated by brothers and sisters of all ages. On this day, brothers and sisters come to a common place to celebrate this day, irrespective of where they live.
It's a day to promise each other protection and love. In it, Raksha means protection and Bandhan means bond.
It is celebrated on the full moon day of the hindu calendar. It generally falls in the month of August.
This festival is filled with warmth of love and affection. The day is started by a small ritual done by sisters. They put a formal "Tilak" on their brothers' foreheads. And then tie a Rakhi (a thread) to their wrist. Then they pray for well-being and success. In turn, brothers give gifts to their sisters. These gifts can vary from sweets to some personal usable or valuable things.
The thread which a sister ties to a brother's wrist is known as Rakhi. Nowadays, some fancy rakhis are also available in the market, especially for children.
At that time, everyone in the family is happy and there is an environment of togetherness. On this day, brothers promise to protect their sisters in every high and the lows of life. It's a beautiful tradition of care, love and responsibility.
It's not only about tying a thread, but also to share the happiness and presence of each other in our lives.
Its importance is beyond the family. It is a huge symbol of respect, protection, and mutual support for each other. It reminds us of family relations and duties.
As a matter of fact, Raksha Bandhan is not only a festival, it's a tradition of showing love, care, protection and family relations. We hope this Raksha Bandhan gives a new light to living life.
Thank you.
